Jumulo FC Acquires Young Prison Leopards’ Slot
Jumulo Football Club has announced that they have acquired the slot of Young Prison Leopards and will compete in the National Division One next season. Jumulo, who were demoted to the Provincial Division One last season, will now participate in the nationwide league starting in August.
Club president Julius Lombe expressed confidence that the team will perform better in the upcoming season due to improved financial conditions, especially with the revival of mines on the Copperbelt.
“Management is assuring stakeholders that Jumulo is going to do well since the mining companies are now fully operational and the financial situation is going to improve,” Lombe said.
He added, “We are going to be competitive this season and the financial problems we had last season are now going to be eased because we have also found a sponsor.”
The relegation of Prison Leopards from the Super League has led to their feeder club, Young Prison Leopards, relinquishing their slot. This decision was influenced by the fact that both teams are sponsored by Zambia Correctional Services and cannot compete in the same league.
Jumulo FC’s acquisition of Young Prison Leopards’ slot marks a new chapter for the club. With improved financial backing and renewed optimism, they are poised to make a strong impact in the National Division One.
