BETWAY Premiership side Chippa United have confirmed the departure of Zambian striker Enock Sakala Jnr as part of a major squad reshuffle that saw 15 players released from the club. The former ZESCO United forward’s contract will not be renewed, marking the end of a short stint with the Chilli Boys.
End of the Road at Chippa
Sakala joined Chippa United in February 2025 on a short-term deal after leaving Modern Sport in Egypt. His time at the South African outfit was brief, but his name now headlines a long list of players who have been let go as the club prepares for the next chapter.
Mass Exodus Confirmed
Chippa United made headlines after parting ways with a number of senior players including high-profile South African midfielder Andile Jali, who previously starred for Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The full list of released players includes:

Additionally, three players — Aphelele Teto, Siphelo Baloni, and Sonwabile Khumalo — have returned to their parent clubs after the end of their loan deals.
A Proven Goal Threat
Before his move to Egypt, Sakala made a strong impression in Zambia’s topflight, scoring 12 goals in the 2023/2024 MTN Super League season, and played a key role in ZESCO United’s qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Now a free agent, the 22-year-old forward is expected to attract interest from clubs both in Zambia and abroad as the transfer window heats up.
What Next for Sakala Jnr?
Sakala’s next move remains uncertain, but his proven scoring record and experience across multiple leagues make him an intriguing option for teams seeking attacking reinforcements ahead of the 2025/26 season.
