Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos Seek Crucial Redemption Against Chitipa United
Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos will return to home soil this Sunday, 27th April 2025, aiming to reverse their recent misfortunes as they host a determined Chitipa United at Dedza Stadium in the ongoing TNM Super League.
The pressure is mounting on coach Andrew Bunya and his squad following two successive defeats—a 2-1 setback against Mzuzu City Hammers and a 2-0 loss to Tigers FC at Kamuzu Stadium. As Dedza’s 2025 campaign hangs in the balance, this fixture presents a golden opportunity to rally and restore faith among their devoted supporters.
Addressing the media in the build-up to the match, Bunya exuded cautious optimism despite acknowledging the team’s struggles.
“Yes, we know we haven’t done well to make our fans happy. Our two losses were unfortunate, but we know we have the capability to bounce back. That’s what we are trying to do. The spirit is there in training, and we are focusing on correcting our mistakes,” he said.
However, Dedza’s preparations have not been without challenges. Key figures such as Khumbo Banda and Marko Chiwaya missed Friday’s training session due to injuries and personal issues. Coach Bunya was quick to remind supporters that squad selection depends on a variety of factors including fitness, form, and tactical needs.
“There are many reasons a player may not make the final squad—injuries, suspensions, training performance, and even tactical decisions for a particular opponent,” Bunya explained.
Interestingly, the Dynamos’ squad selection for this match suggests a more aggressive intent, with fewer defensive options named.
“We’ve lost our last two games without scoring. We want to be more aggressive this time, especially at home. The players we’ve picked will be expected to contribute both defensively and offensively depending on game dynamics,” Bunya added.
Last weekend’s defeat to Tigers FC was particularly painful. Despite dominating possession and creating multiple chances, Dedza Dynamos were left ruing missed opportunities, with Tigers showing clinical edge. Martin Msewa‘s first-half penalty and Precious Chiudza‘s second-half strike were enough to condemn the Dynamos to another defeat.
Victory on Sunday would not only halt Dedza’s two-match losing run but also offer a timely boost to the squad’s confidence ahead of a busy run of fixtures. A spirited performance could reignite the bond between players and fans, with the Dedza faithful expected to fill the stands.
Yet, Dedza must tread carefully, as Chitipa United arrive in good form, having shown admirable resilience in recent matches. They will be eager to exploit any nerves and frustrate the hosts by walking away with at least a point.
With the stakes high, all eyes will be on Dedza Stadium for what promises to be an intriguing clash in the TNM Super League calendar.
